The conditioned Brahman part 3

4th July 2020

In paragraph 3 Brahman can inspire fear similar to the idea of the ‘Fear of the Lord’ in the Old Testament. For example; ““Like a thunderbolt ready to be hurled””. Brahman also gives ‘providence’, but he is not the creator of ‘good and evil’. Man gets the results of his own actions. This bit goes against Genesis where it talks about the acts of creation being ‘good’.

In summary, Swami Nikhilananda says that there are to aspects to knowledge of Brahman;

1.          1.  The Unconditioned Brahman who can only be spoken of through negative theology            ‘What It is not’

2.     The Conditioned Brahman that equates with equivalent to Old Testament God.
