The Book of Hebrews Challenges anyone that tries to water down the divinity of Christ

Over the next few weeks I am going to start to also blog about the book of Hebrews. I wrote this as a hobby over a period of time. I meditated on the Greek scriptures Turkish and English. I hope it blesses people and brings them closer to the Light of the World, Our Saviour Jesus Christ. Hebrews This commentary is aimed at the Turkish speaking Christian community. Obviously in the English speaking world there are many commentaries on the book of Hebrews. Yet I think that when doing any piece of academic work it is easy to forget the cultural and linguistic backgrounds of the various speakers of languages. At the next level it will be aimed towards pastors who take care of the church. The Turkish church in its theological mindset from my perspective, is that it is only in its infancy. Commentaries are needed to deal with issues that concern the believers today. Yet, a commentary needs to go further and deal with the ‘unseen’ issues of the text. Althoug

My special friend Ali Bey and the Kitabı Mukkades

The story of the Kitabı Mukaddes is a great adventure story with lots of twists, turns and intrigues. The original Turkish Bibles would have been written in the beautiful Arabic script of the Ottoman Period. Two names that come from that period as far as translators go are Bobovious and Shipman. Shipman's New Testament translation (NT) still does exist but only in the world of antiques which is sad really. The great scientist Sir Robert Boyle was a person who helped Shipman translate the New Testament into Turkish but alas this version never really made it into the public domain. The whole Bible however did make it into the sphere of the public domain. Bobovious who was also known as Ali Bey translated and created a beautiful Bible. In the translation and creation of this Bible, I do not want to start from the translation but from the translator. According to the Wikipaedeia Ali bey was taken prisoner by the Tartars and sold to the Sultan. He then became a Muslim and worked f

The Turkish Bible

I really like the new Turkish Bible. The translation runs smoothly and it is easy to understand. However I also like the older translation by Bobovious. I'm sad that this translation isn't found on the major Bible sites. I am wondering why? All I know is that the late professor Gunton once said to me that 'It is good to draw from the old wine skins and the new' The more difficult translations tend to conserve the meaning better in some contexts. I hope the Bible societies will see sense and publish it on the NET. Thanks for the comment.  I've just brought my blogg back to life.  I'm sorry to have missed your comment in 2010 but then again with God time isn't so important! :) Have a nice day...

My first talk

I suppose what I would like to talk about is life, the universe and indicators of meaning. My own theological position is that of the Trinity. I believe that God the Father sent the Son in to the world and by the agency of the Holy Spirit we can be brought into the life of God. In other words I believe in Jesus Christ and I trust him completely and through him with the help of the Holy Spirit will have eternal life. It is open for all.
